During the Conference , the Minister of Petroleum delivered a speech, where he assured the full support of the Petroleum Sector for scientific research development  to keep pace with the information revolution and the vast technological progress in the world nowadays, the sustainable activation of  the scientific research and linking it to the practical aspect.
 In addition, the importance of setting young qualified and specialized cadres in this field as the real wealth of scientific research in Egypt. He explained the great confidence of the Petroleum Sector in the Scientific Research and the Egyptian scientists and take advantage of the major scientific applications in the Petroleum Sector.
The conference highlighted the role of the Petroleum and Mineral Resources in development, environment preservation, the impact of new technologies on environment, the role of scientific research in the developing petroleum and mineral resources technology in various activities (exploration, production, developing oil fields, manufacturing, petrochemicals, transport and distribution), recent  gas explorations and its role in development.
The conference, as well, reviewed methods of rational use of energy to petroleum and mineral resources and how to recycle and reuse waste oil and mineral resources.

Moreover, the conference discussed many industrial applications of scientific research such as nanotechnology, biotechnology and bio-fuels, and how access to new advanced materials to serve the petroleum industry, usage of new techniques to identify the properties of oil spill contaminating the environment and treatment methods, as well as means of clean fuels production from natural raw materials, the use of Egyptian shale and the production of environmentally friendly clean diesel.
