Minister of Petroleum Meets Halliburton Chairman

n 10-1-2011, Eng. Sameh Fahmi, Minister of Petroleum, met with Mr. David J. Lesar, Chairman and CEO of the International Company Halliburton, who is visiting Egypt, currently, within the framework of a working tour in the Arab States including Iraq and Algeria.

The Minister  pointed out that he discussed the mechanisms of future cooperation between the Egyptian Petroleum Sector and the International Company, and the possibility of establishing cooperation between both sides over the coming period to work outside Egypt in the projects of oil & gas, thus contributing to open new horizons for the Egyptian Oil Companies to expand their activities abroad, increasing the Sector's revenues as well as value added maximization, with regard to the great success, these companies have achieved during the last period, in the implementation of mega projects in major oil producers inside & outside OPEC.
 
 Moreover, the Minister added that the talks included, studying the possibility of benefitting from the advanced technologies and experiences of the Major companies concerning natural gas extraction from shale layers, which are, highly, available in Egypt, according to the Majors' projections. Thus, contributing to natural gas reserves increase in Egypt , similar to the case in the US, depending on such unconventional source of energy, successfully.
Next week, it is scheduled that Cairo will host a major national symposium on the technology of extracting natural gas from the shale layers, under the auspices of Halliburton, with the participation of the company's leadership delegation, and the presence of 250 specialists in this field, worldwide.
