Minister of Petroleum Receives the International Society of Petroleum Engineers' President's Award for Section Excellence
On 4/1/2011, the Egyptian Society of Petroleum Engineers, has presented the President's World-Class Award for Section Excellence 2009-2010, to Eng. Sameh Fahmi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, from the International Society of Petroleum Engineers, during the Society's annual ceremony which was held, previously, in the Italian city, Florence, at the end of 2010.

During a meeting with Minister of Petroleum , a joint delegation from the International Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Egyptian Society of Petroleum Engineers the Minister received the Award from the President of the Egyptian Society of Petroleum Engineers (ESPE), as the Society decided to present it to the Minister of Petroleum, in recognition of his efforts & excellence through outstanding meetings, educational programs, student outreach and communication with its members along with the great development witnessed by the Egyptian Petroleum Sector within the first decade of this century ; ranking Egypt among the developed countries in natural gas industry, regionally as well as globally, in addition to the Egyptian Petroleum companies moving forward to compete strongly with major companies in the implementation of mega petroleum projects outside Egypt.
It is worth mentioning that, this prize is awarded in light of a strong competition among all the Society's branches which are 196, worldwide. The Award is given on based criteria, set to evaluate the performance; that include petroleum culture spread, members communication development with each other and motivating the participation of students along with developing their culture in the petroleum fields , as well as providing various social services to the community & environmental awareness development among the members
