OGS Competency Methodology

 

Organizational  capability  development  is  an  integral  part  of  any modern  company’s strategy  in  terms  of  efficiency,  innovation,  long  term-sustainability  and  return  on  investment.  To manage staff capabilities there are three critical components: 

  • A Skills Assessment System (SAS).
  • A fully configured Learning Management System (LMS) that takes the input from the above process and allows future management of competencies and training throughout an organization. 
  • Integrated processes and tools that use the output from the LMS in order to manage broader Human Resource and Knowledge Management (KMS) processes. 

Skills assessment is a systematic method for determining the level of Knowledge, Skills & Abilities of a group of Individuals by identifying their strengths and skill gaps, for the purpose of individual and organizational capability development. A Skills Assessment System offers the organization a framework through which to identify and establish an effective skill development system, tailored to each individual's need and linked business goals and direction. A Skills Assessment program such as this adds value by: 

  • Building a measured technical skill inventory for an organization.
  • Optimizing training investments by targeting skill gaps aligned with company needs.
  • Establishing technical standards for personnel grading and promotions.
  • Providing a basis for internal or external benchmarking of technical capabilities.
  • Establishing a motivating environment for staff to undertake ownership of career development.  

In  today’s  fast-paced  and  growth  environment,  an  organization  needs  to  meet  the  challenges  of leveraging organizational knowledge to achieve competitive advantage in the marketplace.  Thus, we are faced with a challenge to rethink the way we manage employee development so as to maximize return on investment. The structured  learning framework outlined here,  is a system that  links  learning objectives to desired business  results  and  establishes  a mechanism  for  identifying,  developing,  measuring  and  tracking employee mastery of technical skills.
