Course Name: Projects Economics
Course Objective: Generally Project Economics comprises two major parts; Estimating Project Total Installed Capital & working Investments and Evaluating Project Profitability. The attendee will be able to: 1. Estimate the total investment for any project consists of the fixed-capital investment for the physical equipment and facilities in the project plus the working capital. 2. Conduct economic analysis/evaluation among project overall life cycle through analyzing profits obtainable from the investment of capital and the choice of the Best investment among various alternatives/options/opportunities
Who Should Attend: The course is organized for managers, practicing engineers (projects, production, maintenance, process …etc) having different disciplines, geologists, accountants, and business personnel concerned with cost estimation, investment evaluations and selection.
Course Content: ➢ Cost Estimating; Capital investments; fixed capital investment and working capital. ➢ Time Value of Money; mechanics and equivalence of present, future and annual worth calculations. Breakeven, rate of return, net present value, and ratio analysis of income producing alternatives. Service producing evaluations ➢ Project Alternatives; economic evaluation & selection techniques, Mutually exclusive income-producing alternative evaluations emphasizing Rate of return, net present value, and ratio analysis; Non-mutually exclusive alternative analysis ➢ Sensitivity Analysis; Single variable, best/worst, risk analysis using expected value concepts. ➢ After-tax Analysis; After-tax analysis cash flow concepts. Depreciation, depletion and amortization methods. DCFROR, net present value (NPV), and ratio analysis techniques. Savings equivalency to revenues in after-tax analysis. After-tax breakeven analysis and use of after-tax NPV for valuation purposes. Replacement and lease/purchase analysis after tax.
