يهدف البرنامج الى التعريف بالاتفاقيات البترولية وأهميتها بالنسبة لصناعة البترول، كيفية اقامة الشركة المشتركة بداية من طرح مناطق الامتياز للبحث والاستكشاف فى مزايدات عالمية، وكيفية تقييم العروض المستلمة فنياً ومالياً والتعرف على النموذج المستخدم فى التقيم المالى، وتهدف كذلك إلى التعرف على حقوق وواجبات كل من الشركاء فى الشركات المشتركة وكيفية المحاسبة بين الشركاء وطرق اقتسام الإنتاج، هذا بالإضافة إلى التعرف على التطورات والأنواع المختلفة للاتفاقيات ومزايا وعيوب كل نوع من هذه الاتفاقيات.
كذلك يهدف البرنامج الى التعرف على معايير المحاسبة الدولية وأهم أسس التفرقة بين كل نوع من المصروفات ( مصروفات البحث– مصروفات التنمية – مصروفات التشغيل ) وكيفية وأسس استرداد كل نوع من هذه المصروفات، هذا إلى جانب التعرف على اتفاقيات الغاز وكيفية تسعير الغاز فى الاتفاقيات البترولية، وأخيراً التعرض لبعض مشاكل الاتفاقيات مثل (فائض المشروعات – المخزون الراكد - المخزون المتقادم تكنولوجياً – إهلاك الآبار المنتجة والجافة).
