Laying The Foundation Stone of the Largest Polyester Production Project in the Middle East

Engineer Abdullah Ghorab, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, laid the foundation stone of the largest Polyester production project in the Middle East at the economic zone, North West the Gulf of Suez, Ain Sukhna. The project represents the last one in the first phase projects of the National Petrochemical Master Plan, carried out by the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company.

The 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum will be inaugurated tomorrow, under the Chairmanship of Eng. Abdallah Ghorab the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, with the participation of ministers and 11 major gas exporting countries' heads of delegation; including Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, besides Norway, Kazakhstan and Netherlands as observers.

On 27/3/2011, Eng. Abdullah Ghorab , Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated the 14th Conference and Exhibition of Petroleum , Mineral Resources and Development organized by the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI), in the presence of Dr. Maged El Sherbini , Assistant of the Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs, and Dr. Ahmed Al Sabbagh, Head of the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute. Many oil, refining, petrochemicals, mining and cement companies & a large number of faculty members in the Egyptian governmental & private Universities, research centers and institutes affiliated to the Ministry of Scientific Research participated in the conference, which will be held over three days.

BP….. Petroleum Projects in Egypt with Investments of $11 Billion

The Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Essam Sharaf received Mr. Bob Dudley, President of the British company, British Petroleum (BP), with the attendance of Eng. Abdullah Ghorab Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to study the possibility of erecting a mega natural gas project in Egypt with total investments reaching $11 billion, over 5 years time period. The most essential part of the project is located west the Mediterranean Sea and provides 5 thousands job opportunities. It worth mentioning that, BP is a partner in GUPCO with 20% of its investments.

During the ceremony which was held on 16/1/2011 and attended by Mr. Aminul Rasheed, Executive Director of Petronas- Egypt, grant scholarships for 14 students, representing the 7th batch of secondary school graduates to study Different Engineering Specialties and Information Technology at Petronas' University of Technology, Malaysia, Eng. Sameh Fahmi, Minister of Petroleum assured the Petroleum Sector keenness to provide scholarships for talented students of Secondary School to study engineering and information technology in specialized universities outside Egypt, in addition to supporting and developing the departments & faculties of Petroleum Engineering at the Egyptian Universities to keep pace with the rapid developments in the Oil and Gas industry . It is noteworthy that, these Scholarships were provided by the Ministry of Petroleum, in collaboration with Malaysia's Petronas since 2005.
